MAC Viva Glam Taraji P. Henson

Ever since 2014 when MAC released the Viva Glam Rihanna I have been hooked and purchasing every collaboration since. The Viva Glam lipsticks and lipglasses are released twice a year, once in the beginning of year like around January and another toward the end of the year like September. The colors have not disappointed me thusfar. With that being said, when I heard that MAC’s spokesperson (each year it changes) for this year was Taraji P. Henson I had to snatch up both the lipstick and lipglass as soon as I could. Not only because that’s my girl, been loving her ever since the Baby Boy days, but also because the purchase of the Viva Glam collab goes to a great cause! 100% of the proceeds when you purchase the lipstick or lipglass goes to help with women, men, and children living and affected by HIV/AIDS. I love shopping for a cause, not only am I getting a great product, but I am also giving to charity. Literally a win-win!

Mac Vamplify Liquid Lipgloss Review

I love when Mac releases a new collection, especially when it is a lip product as amazing as these! I went to the Mac Counter to try out a few colors maybe grab one or two, but as you can see that turned into six! I purchased Suggestive, Peer Pressure, What’s Going On?, How Chic Is This?, Tuned In, and A for Attitude. Click here for a description of the full collection.

L to R: Suggestive, Peer Pressure, What’s Going On? How Chic Is This?, A For Attitude, Tuned In

I seriously wanted to get almost every shade in this collection, but I had to control myself causing me to narrow it down to the 6 colors above. I still want to get She-Devil, but it won’t kill me if I don’t! When I applied these on my lips I noticed they went on smooth and were not tacky. As you can see A for Attitude does go on a little uneven, but was easy to even out by pressing my lip together and using my finger to move it around a little. You can get up to 6 hours of wear with these and after a while, I noticed the shine died down and turned into a stain or more into a satin finish. They are very moisturizing, which is always a plus with lip products, leaving my lips feeling soft!

These lipglosses are buildable and can easily be paired with a lip liner and/or lipstick. I actually prefer wearing them with a lip liner because I can customize the color to match my style. I created an ombre look by pairing A for Attitude with Mac Nightmoth lip liner. Gorgeous! I even paired Tuned In with Mac Persistence (LE) and Mary Kay Cappuccino lip liner to intensify the nude look while adding definition to my lips. There are so many looks that can be created with these glosses. Some colors within the collection can be even be created just so you know in case a certain shade is sold out. One of the makeup artists at the Mac Counter told me I could simply pair Peer Pressure with a dark lip liner and create Modern Drama. She was even wearing How Chic Is This? and paired it with a dark liner turning it into a deeper purple, instantly making me want it. You know I love dark lippies. Seriously though, lip liners can really transform a look!

Mac has changed the game with these liquid lipglosses and I would recommend all of these limited edition shades. What are your faves? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Pink Wednesday!!

It’s Wednesday!!!

It’s Wednesday and not only that but it’s September!!! Fall is almost here….love it! Okay back to it being….Pink Wednesday! There is a pink out there for everyone, rather it’s a soft pink, a bold pink, or an in-between. No matter what your personality is I believe every girl should own a pink shade, it’s like the sister color to red, gotta have one of those as well! Recently, while taking an inventory of my lip collection I realized I have sooooo many shades and it will probably take a lifetime to use them all, but hey that won’t stop my collection from growing. What can I say? A girl has wants!

I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite pink shades, both lipsticks and lip glosses:

  • Mac Flat Out Fabulous- retro matte, bright plum matte
  • Mac Viva Glam Miley Cyrus- amplified, hot pink
  • Mac Fashion Revival- matte, deep raspberry
  • Mac Red Blazer- bright fuchsia
  • Smashbox Be Legendary in Azalea- bright hibiscus pink

Pink Swatches

L to R: Smashbox Azalea, Mac Red Blazer, Mac Flat Out Fabulous, Mac Viva Glam Miley Cyrus, Mac Fashion Revival

Of all the colors, I probably wear Fashion Revival the most because I love dark colors, but all of these are absolutely beautiful. Not to mention that some are permanent and still be grabbed. Viva Glam Miley Cyrus, Fashion Revival, and Red Blazer are all limited editions. in case you didn’t know with Viva Glam Miley, every cent paid goes to help families living with AIDS/HIV. Give back to others and attain a great lipstick in the process! It’s a win-win!

On days when I’m in a rush and just want a tinted lip, my go to gloss is Azalea. It’s very moisturizing which is always appreciated and packs enough color to where if it starts to fade i don’t have to worry about unevenness. Red Blazer provides that same experience for me, only the color is more opaque.

Wearing a shade of pink does something to me internally. When I’m walking out the door to begin my day, I feel like a real life barbie, no plastic included! On Wednesdays, we wear pink rather it’s eye shadow, clothing, lip gloss, shoes. Mean Girls helped introduce us to it, no shame in that!

Whatever you do, whatever you wear just make sure you feel absolutely FABULOUS afterwards!

I Love Dark Lippies!

With fall right around the corner, it’s about time to whip out all the dark lippies! If you are like me then you wear dark colors year round because you love them just that much! I have a ton of lipsticks and I love the nudes, pinks, reds, and berries, but there is something about a deep plum color that draws my attention like nothing else! I recently purchased MAC Instigator and MAC Cyber. Cyber has been out for a while, but since I had MAC Smoked Purple I passed on picking it up and Instigator came out previously but was relaunched in June with their Matte Lip Collection. Of course, I had to pick it up!

Instigator vs Cyber

They are packaged in MAC’s standard black bullet and as you can see from the picture they look like the same color, but when swatched you can see a clear difference. The one on the left is Cyber and on the right is Instigator. Cyber is described as an “intense blackish-purple” with a satin finish, meaning great color payoff, semi-matte, and has a sheen. Instigator on the other hand is a “deep blackened plum” with a matte finish, meaning there is no sheen and no color transfer, but sill great color pay off. Mattes can be drying so exfoliating lips before use is a must!

20150822_171057On top is Instigator and the bottom is Cyber. As you can see although slightly similar, Instigator is lighter. I love them both and they last a long time, at least 6-8 hours of wear. Cyber when it fades does leave a stain, but I don’t mind! I would definitely recommend these two colors for the fall and look forward to what else MAC comes out with their fall collections!

Whatever your style, rock it this fall and every season!
